(2) Manginge – an expression of respect given to elders and persons of authority; likened to a kiss, this expression of reverence is displayed by the motion of a slight touch of the nose to be back part of a person’s right hand.
(3) Mamahlao – to be shamefaced, embarrassed or ashamed.

What is Inafa' maolek ?
WHAT DOES TRADITION MEAN ?
It means the transmission of customs or beliefs from generation to generation, or the fact of being passed on in this way. One of the chamorro traditions that have lasted a really long time are the rosaries. It lasts nine days and during the first eight nights they pray for the deceased and on the last day they pray in the morning and then bury them after they view the body. Fiestas are also part of tradition. They are usually a pre-dated village fiesta or a familie's traditional day to have a fiesta.
HOW IS GLOBALIZATION AFFECTING TRADITION ?
Globalization is affecting tradition by what I believe is by tehnology and the advances in manufactured goods, such as utilities and the medications we used . We no longer do the Chamorro's old way of traditions. We do not build our homes traditionally, we do not used latte stones, tangangtangan, coconut leaves, and dried pago leaves as rope to tie everything together; now we use cement, metal objects, and utilities to build our homes. We no longer rely on the old chamorro remedies for medicines, we rely on medicines manufactured artificially to help you gain your health back faster. Globalization has changed the Chamorro tradition so much that most of our traditions are remembered through the arts of dance, songs, and sadly that is what it has come to. Although, there are attempts to save the traditions through the chamorro village in Inarajan, Humatak, and Hurao Academy where they teach you the old way of living in the old Chamorro Society. Keeping our traditions alive is very important to many, but not used daily for many to experience.
